Merry Christmas!

Hey all :)

It's not Christmas here just yet (tomorrow and Sunday) but I really wanted to try out this polish as full mani.
So yesterday I took 2 coats of Essence Glam Girl as base red and threw on a layer of China Glaze Party Hearty, and here it is, my Xmas mani! A bit more over the top than my usual manicures. but hey, it doesn't get much more Christmas-y than this :) And I suspect I ain't alone on having a mani with this polish right now, lol.

This is my fake minitree on the background, but I don't have any tree out this year >.< Turns out my kitten considered this one big killable toy! When I saw him on his side with the tree in his frontpaws, his backpaws kicking and his face burried deep in the tree, biting on the branches, I figured it was maybe better to hide it again lol :) Ah well, at least I still have my seasonal nails, and as you can see on the next picture, we're having a white Christmas!

I thought it would make a nice picture with some snow in my hands, so out I went. My balcony is covered in snow, I can't remember the last time we had this much snow! I was hoping to make a few pictures, but I underestamated the cold of the snow *shivers* and gave up quickly :P

My boyfriend is here to spend the holidays with me and tomorrow we'll be eating at my family, gourmet omnomnom. If you don't know what that is, it's like a warm plate on the table with minipans and everyone can bake for themselves what they want. I really like it!

To give you an idea of what my kitten is like <3

Have a great time all, with lots of warm moments with your loved ones :)

Catrice & AFK - Review

It's been a while since I posted, a lot of stuff has been going on in my life and I've been sick as well, so I didn't have the energy to keep up to date with blogging and other sites. I won't be able to post here or reply to other blogs much in the next weeks either, but I hope things calm down in the new year!

Today I have several things to show you, starting with some review products from Catrice. As you might have read on other blogs, Catrice recently held a press presentation and invited a bunch of bloggers as well. Unfortunately I couldn't make it, but not long after I got a lot of information from them about all the new stuff, and they were so kind to add some products to test as well! Normally I don't post about anything but polish, but today I'll make an exception to show the products I received.

The lipgloss is Toast With Champagne, the eyeliners are from their Glamourama collection, and the eyeshadow is Heidi Plum. As always, the picture is clickable for a bit bigger version, which shows the sparkle in the gloss better.

The gloss seemed a bit too sparkly for my liking, but on my skin it's mainly just glossy with a fine sparkle, as you can see here. It has a sweet scent which caught the attention of my kitten, lol.
The eyeshadow was very pigmented, but I haven't tried it on yet besides on my hand here.
The silver eyeliner seemed a bit thin and less pigmented than the black one, but when it dried up that didn't show anymore.
Laquerized has posted about all the new products, have a look at her post if you want to see more :)

There was also a polish in the package, The Devil Wears Red, and the first thing I noticed was that they changed the color of the text on the bottle. That used to be black, making it hard to read on dark polishes, and now it's grey with the name of the polish in white. Much better if you ask me!

I used 2 coats here, no top coat.

Now for my NOTD, another Catrice polish :P They added 3 new polishes to their standard collection but I only got one of those so far, the other 2 did look nice on the pictures but were sold out. So here's Hip Queens Wear Blue Jeans! Unfortunately the blue glitter shows much better in the bottle than on my nails, but still, I like the color :)

This was 2 coats with a layer of top coat.

Thanks for stopping by and take care!

You can buy the Catrice products in stores like Kruidvat. The lipgloss costs €3,79, the eyeshadow €2,79 and the polishes sell for €2,49. I'm not sure on the price of the eyeliners.

The product(s) in this post was/were send to me for review. For more information, please have a look at my Disclosure Policy.

Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics - Review

The mailman came with a package the other day and he said it smelled. I didn't know what it was, but I was pretty sure a smelly package had to be a broken polish, and unfortunately it was :( That was my first polish that didn't make it, hopefully it was the last as well :P
The package was from Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics, who kindly send me some polishes for review.

Here's some of the info that was send along in a note:
"All of our polishes are 3Free. It is a healthier nailpolish.
The branding behind them is targeted at woman who have busy lives (whether they are focussed on family, business or community) and need to sometimes slow down and have a laugh.
My names are cheeky and ment to be laughed at. I like to think of Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics as "quality with a giggle". The polish is a treat for your hands."

The polishes come with a cute little card with a small text on it. The cards also got covered in polish so no pictures of them, but the ones I got were:
"Remember make-up protects your face from everyday pollution - so slap it on"
"They never said inner beauty would get you laid"
"They may make fun of your outfit today, but they will be wearing it two years from now"
"Be as kinky as a cheap garden hose"
I found the polish names and these little cards a bit tacky, but in a funny way :)

There was also a cute little pink nailfile from CMC in the package, but I only use glass nailfiles so besides that it's cute and pink, I can't say much about it :P

Now, on to the polishes! All pics are without top coat.

The first one is Get Wet, a light blue/green creme. I used 3 coats for the pics, but 2 slightly thicker coats would've been enough. And surprisingly, it didn't make my hands so lobstery even though it's a bit green as well. Depending on the light it looks slightly more green or blue.
Oh, and I'm holding my basecoat because the bottles didn't like being cleaned with remover with acetone >.<

The next one is Tease, another creme which is a purple-ish grey. It covered in 2 coats. I like this one best of the 3, because I find grey nice but not so complimentary for my skintone, but with the purple in it I think it looks better. And purple is always good :P Again, depending on the light it looks more grey or purple.

And the last one, Booty Call. It's a very dark, red-based purple shimmer, and covered in 2 coats. It was almost a 1-coater so I'll try to stamp with it sometime. It'a bit less black than it is on my pics (the light wasn't working along for this one), but still very dark purple.
The wierd spots on the cap of the bottle and the missing text are from cleaning it.

All 3 polishes were a bit thin, but not runny, and the cremes weren't streaky at all :) The application was nice, the brush is pretty small but not too small to get annoying. The drying time on the cremes was a bit slower, but Booty Call's drying time was good.

You can buy these polishes at the CMC website, and for the Dutch people, Boozyshop sells them as well.
The prices in these webshops are $15.00/€14.95 for 15ML.

Thanks for stopping by! :)

China Glaze C-c-courage

C-c-courage was the first China Glaze that I used, I got it with my first online order and I loved it. After some boring drugstore polishes in minibottles without names, and with less good application this was a big difference!
So I used it quite a lot at start, but quickly gathered more polishes and used those instead. Today I wanted to see if I still love it as much as I did back then, but unfortunately I'm a bit more picky when it comes to polish now, lol.

I used 3 coats, the application was ok but I could notice it's a bit older already. The drying time was a bit slower than I'd like, and the grittyness, oh boy >.< I used 2 coats of Seche Vite, and it still isn't so smooth.
I remember I used 2 coats of C-c-courage back then, and that was fine (and less gritty) but now it needed 3.
This blue-purple color is still nice and sparkly, but next time I'll see if I can get away with 2 slightly thicker coats to make it smoother. Luckily it doesn't look as bumpy as the macro option of my camera sees it though!

I was so happy with this polish back then, but I do feel kinda silly for going "aww memories :)" over a bottle of polish, lol. But I think you guys will understand :P What was your first polish that was more special?

As you can see the color varies on my pictures, it does a bit irl as well but it didn't help that cameras and purples usually aren't such a great combo. It's a bit less blue irl.

Have a nice day :)

Catrice Crispy Crimson with Konad

Heya :)

For today I used 2 coats of Catrice Crispy Crimson from the Expect The Unexpected collection, and stamped it with Catrice Poison Me, Poison You! and Konad plate m51. It's a very subtle mani, but that doesn't show so well on my pics.

The base color is a deep red with a hint of pink, but it shows quite a bit lighter than it actually is. I tried to photograph it without stamping as well, but meh, it just didn't want to show it's real color. Atm me and my camera aren't getting along so well it seems :P
So irl the stamping isn't so visible, it's a deep and rich mani, but the purple has a nice glow that lights up at the right angles. I really like this purple for stamping! :)

Thanks for stopping by and take care!

Catrice Purposely Purple

Today I'm still wearing Catrice Purposely Purple from their Expect The Unexpected collection, and it's really a purple! But it's the kind of purple that my camera instant shows as blue, so yeah, you'll just have to imagine it more purple :P If it's better weather I might try to capture it again someday, but I guess it'll always be a bit too blue on my pics.

I used 2 coats, and no top coat. It's on my nails since Thursday, that's why there's a little bit tipwear. The application and drying time were great, and even though it's not really an original color, it's still a nice purple. I think I'll wear it more often, but next time I'd add some stamping or so.

This one is most color accurate from the 3 pics, but still a little bit too blue.

Some of you asked for a picture of my kitten, so here he is, slacking in a basket right now :) It's the same kitten as on the pictures in this post, just a bit larger and darker now.
I got him when he was 7 weeks old and oh so tiny and skinny, he stayed here for 5 weeks to get all healthy. After those 5 weeks he and Kyra (the other foster kitten on the previous pics) went back to the shelter, but a few days later I couldn't resist anymore and I went to pick him up again <3 Kyra didn't match so well with my other 2 cats and she's still in the shelter right now, but the last news was that she's doing pretty well luckily.

As you can see he's not as tiny anymore, and by looking at his front paws I suspected he'd get big. But yesterday we went to the vet for his second shot, and it turns out he's quite a bit bigger than I thought already (I stopped checking his weight after he reached a healthy weight).
For a kitten his age they keep an average weight of 1.4kg, he's in perfect condition but 2.5kg already! Oh my, I wonder if my house will be big enough in a while, lol.

He's washing his paw here :)

Have a great weekend!

China Glaze 'Tis The Season To Be Naughty And Nice - Part II - Review

Hey all,

Another pic heavy post today, part II of the 'Tis The Season To Be Naughty And Nice collection from China Glaze :)
Like yesterday, I didn't use top coat on the pictures unless mentionned, and the description of the colors is from China Glaze.

Jolly Holly: Forest green shimmer.

This was 2 coats. Another possible stamping polish I think.

Naughty and Nice: Deeply rich wine crème.

I used 3 coats to even things out, but I think 2 would've shown the color better. It's very dark from itself, but it seems almost black now. The lightbox pic shows the color a bit better in the bottle. I might redo this one sometime but with 2 layers, and try to apply it more even instead.

Midnight Kiss: Gold shimmer.

Another 2 coater. And another polish that I think will work for stamping.

Phat Santa
: Red crème.

I used 3 coats for this one. It shows some VNL on my pics, but not irl. It's darker than Ruby Deer, and they're both nice, but I like this one more.

Snow: White crème.

I used 3 coats, 2 would've worked as well but I was hasty and dragged some spots in the previous layer. One of the colors in the collection that doesn't match my skintone so well, but I think it could be great as base for nailart.

Party Hearty: Green, gold and red chunky glitter.

It's a layering polish, but I wanted to try to reach full coverage as well. I suggest you don't try this at home :P
Especially for the first layer I couldn't really polish with it because of the amount and size of the glitters. It was more placing the glitters on my nails, trying to cover all spots. I used 4 coats and a thick layer of top coat.
Now, where did I leave my aluminium foil :')

Here's how it looks layered, which I find much prettier. I don't think nailpolish can get more xmas-y than this!

I used 2 coats of Party Hearty with top coat on: Snow (pink), Jolly Holly (ring), Phat Santa (middle) and Midnight Kiss (index).

Mrs. Claus: Red glitter.

This is 3 coats, with top coat. I have to disagree with the description here, I find it more of a pink/red jelly with silver glitter.

Sugar Plums: Plum shimmer.

This is 2 coats, with top coat. Because of the holographic glitter in it, it got a bit gritty and it really needed the top coat.

The application from the whole collection was very smooth, almost all polishes were pretty thin but not runny, and had good coverage. The only polishes I had more issues with were Frosty, Mrs. Claus and Party Hearty, those were a bit more goopy.
I think China Glaze really did well on the theme, and the collection got some polishes for most people. There's some in your face polishes, some are more calm (not the word I was looking for but I'm sure you get my point), and they're all suited for the holidays.
I have no idea which one to choose myself, but I'm gonna ask anyways, which one is your favorite? :)

I'm gonna go give my nails and cuticles some much needed TLC after 2 days of polish, remover and glitterscrubs :P
Have a nice day!
