Happy New Year!

Yes yes, I know I'm a day too early, but tomorrow I don't have time to post! :) I wish you all a great evening tomorrow, and an amazing 2012, with lots of warm and happy moments with your loved ones. Happy New Year all! :)

Because my mani idea failed pretty badly (stamped fireworks in different colors), I went for a simple glitter combo instead. China Glaze Midnight Kiss (2 coats) as base, and Essence Make It Golden (1 coat) on top. It's more yellow-golden irl, and very sparkly and festive! What will be on your nails tomorrow? :)

Love, light & peace, and take care!

Guest post for Ivana Thinks Pink

Morning all :) Today I do have a post for you, but it's at Ivana Thinks Pink! Ivana, thanks again for having me on your awesome blog ♥

I wish you all a wonderful Christmas if you're celebrating it, with lots of polish under the Christmas tree =D Have a fantastic time and take care!

Double Ruby

Hey there! It's so close to Christmas and I haven't shown a single holiday mani, eek! To change that I went for a simple and quick mani that doesn't have Christmas written all over it, but that does work fine for the season =) I used 2 coats of China Glaze Ruby Deer and sponged China Glaze Ruby Pumps on the tips. Top coat and done!

Take care all!

Prevail with Joy

For this mani I used 2 thin coats of Nubar Prevail and stamped with Konad plate m64 and China Glaze Joy. After applying top coat to the mani, I mattified it again with Essence Matt TC. Prevail is a matte polish that looks a lot more shimmery when it's shiny, and it's pretty that way too, but with this stamping I like it more like this :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Mattified glitters

Hey all :) Today I'm wearing 1 coat of Essence Hex Hex!, it's one of the magnetics and they're great if you're in a rush. They apply easy, dry fast and need just a single coat. I'm not sure how well they work with a magnet though, I only tried them with the magnet that you could buy with it and I still haven't tried them with a decent magnet, lol. But I got them for stamping anyway =)
To spice things up a little I added a coat of Blair and mattified it with Matt TC (both from Essence as well).

Thanks for looking and have a fantastic weekend! :)

Can stamping be too subtle?

After seeing this mani, I'd have to say the answer is yes. This leafy pattern looks like it's stealthed on my nails! On the pics it's better visible, but my nails ain't that big irl of course, and especially when there's a bit less light it just looks like a green mani. Ah well, better color choices next time :)
The base is 2 coats of Essence Trust In Fashion, the stamping polish is Essence All Access, and the image is from Red Angel plate 107. Another lovely RA image if you ask me!

Thanks for stopping by and take care =)

Happy pink

I had to get used a bit to my previous mani before I started to really like it, but I loved this mani straight away, it's so happy and bright! I used 2 coats of Essence Very Berry (not so berry if you ask me though) as base for this mani, which is like a slightly pinker version of Essie Splash Of Grenadine. Stamped with Catrice Wrapped Around My Finger and RA plate 104.

Off topic, the winter blues hit me good this year and I have to say I'm barely keeping up with other blogs lately. I haven't always replied to the comments here either, but I enjoyed reading every single one of them, and I appreciate it so much that you guys come here to check out my blog and even take the time to comment. So here's a big thank you! <3

Enjoy your weekend :)

Black & grey

For this mani I tried another Red Angel image, and boy did I struggle to get it straight on my nails! I redid several nails (which is always extra fun when using an extremely pigmented polish like Konad Black), and here's the result. Base polish is 2 coats of Essence Romeo, the image is from RA plate 108. I like the grey/black, and I thought I'd like the image too, but I have to say so far I'm not too fond of it. Maybe it works better for me in a different color :)

Thanks for looking :)

Funky green mani

As I said before, the Red Angel plates have pretty original designs, and today I used one of those. This image was a little bit less deep, and because of that it didn't transfer fully on a few spots. I should've cleaned the plate more often in between to solve that, but now I know that for the next time :) I used Essence Kings Of Mints (3 coats) as base, and stamped with Essence All Access and RA plate 111. My bottle of All Access is half empty and it's no longer being sold, so hopefully I can find a backup sometime!

What do you think of images like this one?
Thanks for stopping by and take care :)

Another Red Angel image

Hey all! For today's mani I used Essence Fall For Me (2 coats) and stamped with China Glaze Adore and RA plate 105. I have to say, I don't think this turned out so good with Adore as stamping polish, but I wanted to show it anyway so you can see another image of those plates :) I do like the image, but I'm gonna get a green creme stamping polish sometime, I think that will look much better. And I think it could look nice with colored dots or rhinestones, will have to try that sometime!

For my Dutch readers, have a great Sinterklaas if you're celebrating it today! *throws pepernoten*

My entry for Marta's contest

As you might have seen, Marta from ChitChat Nails is holding a contest, where she's looking for a mani to go with her pretty and oh so festive dress. Now I like contests and seeing all the entries, but I've never actually entered one myself, because I'm sometimes a bit insecure and I often get way too many ideas as well! This time was no exception, and I ended up with my placemat covered in black, silver and glitters. There were a few options that I liked, but I started late and lacked time, so I went for a simple sponged mani. Sponging isn't something I do often, and black and silver aren't my usual kinda colors either, so this contest made me try out a different kind of mani. And I'm glad I gave it a go, because I like the outcome and it reminded me that I should sponge more often!

I used Essence Black Is Back (2 coats) and very gently sponged with a silver foil (China Glaze Cheers To You), then added some rhinestones and top coat.

And here it is without the rhinestones. Tomorrow Marta will post all the entries, I'm sure she received a lot of sparkly, glittery and festive manis and I can't wait to see them all together! Thanks for holding this fun contest Marta :)

Thanks for stopping by and take care!

My Red Angel plates arrived!

Wednesday the Red Angel plate set was waiting for me in the mailbox, yay! It's a set of 21 plates from Amazon (for the Dutch people, I payed €22 including shipping to NL), I saw them on a few blogs lately and I'm glad they're part of my platecollection now too =) This set has lots of full nail images, and there are a few images that do look a lot like images from BM/Konad and even one from Essence, but the majority has very original designs. Some of the images on these plates are slightly smaller than others, but they're all compareable to the size of the 2nd BM set and the Konad plates. The image that I used today is one of the images that's slightly smaller, and as you can see, it's no problem :)

The plates are pretty thin and don't have a protective cover at the back, but I don't mind that. The engravings looked a bit shallow though, so I was a little worried if they would transfer well. So I tried a few with a quick drying stamping polish (those are trickier for fine lines), and I'm happy to say that I didn't have any problems with them. So what can I say, the quality might not be like Konad, but they work fine and you get a lot of original images for a small price *happydance*

For this mani I used Catrice London's Weather Forecast (2 coats) and RA plate 109 with China Glaze Millennium. LFW looks a bit darker irl and I'm really liking this combo ♥ I couldn't show it earlier because the weather was bad, and with grey weather I'm struggling a bit to get my pics color accurate and sharp at the same time. But tomorrow I'll go have a look for some new lightbox lamps see how long they last this time before I knock them over >.< that should help. I do have a flash on my cam, but I don't use it, and here's why:

The background cloth color is pretty accurate, but the rest...Yikes! Yesterday I got the tip to use a piece of white paper in front of the flash, which helped a little, but my flash is just a bit overexcited it seems. Oh well, now you know why I never include pics with flash when swatching =)

I'll be showing a lot more of these designs in the coming days, but if there's any design you'd like to see from these plates, do ask!
Thanks for looking and have a great weekend :)

Collage of the Month: November

Hey all! The lovely Nihrida has this nice collage thing on her blog, and I'm liking it so much that I'll use it from now on too, to show each month of blogging at a glimpse :) Thanks for the idea, Nihrida!
This month I didn't have so much posts with my own nails, but I did have a bunch of great guest bloggers, which you can see all together in this post.

Now I'm off to play with my new plates that arrived yesterday, take care :)

Subtle stamping? Yes please!

Even though I love bold and bright stamping, it's not something I'm always in the mood for. But subtle stamping is something that always works for me! Today I went for a grey base (2 coats of Essence Romeo, a bit darker irl) and stamped with China Glaze Adore and BM plate 222. I think almost everything can match with grey, but Adore gives a more subtle result so I went with that one. And as always with that polish, at some angles it jumps out, at others it's very subtle :)

Thanks for looking!

Another light on dark mani, this time in blue

I wanted to try out some more light on dark stamping, because I think it matches nice with the current season. So today I went for blue on blue, Essence Gleam In Blue with Konad plate m85 stamped on Catrice Hip Queens Wear Blue Jeans! (2 coats). I have to get used a bit to these kinda light/dark combos, but I'm liking them more and more :)

As you may have seen on Twitter, I linked a house a few times lately. It's the house of my sister and her hubby, and when they sell it they'll move to this area again, which would be awesome! It's been years since they lived nearby and I would love having them so close :) So if you are looking for a house in Doetinchem (Gelderland) or know someone that is, please have a look here! Thanks :)

Take care!

Purple on purple

Today I went for a simple purple rozes mani, with 2 coats of Catrice Plum Play With Me as base and China Glaze Harmony with Konad m65 for the image. I think it's not bad, but I don't love it either, it's just ok :) It seems I rushed my filing too much, my ringfinger nail is a bit slanted, but I didn't notice that irl until I saw the pics :P

I tried to have my Dewdew as background again, but unfortunately, he disagreed! He started playing with my background cloth and poking my hands, lol. But he was ok with me showing his big paws quickly =)

Have a great weekend! :)

Green and gold NOTD

Hey all! A while ago I saw a mani from AmyGrace where she used Catrice Enter The Undergrowth as base and stamped it with gold, and I knew I had to try that combo sometime as well. I don't have a real warm gold stamping polish, but Essence Pixie Dust! does the trick for me too. So here's 2 coats of Enter The Undergrowth with Pixie Dust and BPS plate m70. And I have to say, I'm loving this even more than I thought I would! The mani looks darker and warmer irl though.
Pixie Dust! is also a magnetic polish, but I haven't used any of them with a magnet yet, lol. I just use them for stamping, they're great for that too :)

Thanks for looking!

No Doubt with Mystic Wish!

For today's mani I used 2 coats of Essence No Doubt as base, and used Mystic Wish! and Konad plate m85 for the image. Mystic Wish! is another polish that makes a design pop out at some angles, and look more shimmery blurred at others. The Konad image that I used here is one that needs a very pigmented polish, else the image itself gets a bit blurry because of the larger areas.

Thanks for stopping by! :)

Avalon with Harmony

Heya :) It's been a while, and I hope you enjoyed the guest posts! But now I'm back to posting myself again, and I tried a different stamping combo today. As you might know, I prefer a creme as base, and usually go for a darker stamping polish, but this time I went for a lighter polish on a dark shimmerbase.

I used 2 coats of A England Avalon as a base, and stamped with BM plate 224 and China Glaze Harmony. It's not bad, and I like it more irl than on my pics, but I prefer my usual kinda combo. To see what effect it would give I added a coat of Essence Soft Touch, but hmm, I'm not sure how I like it best. What do you think? :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a nice Sunday :)
