Color Club Wild At Heart

Haai,

My NOTD is Color Club Wild At Heart, a dark purple with a subtle holo. Especially the red in the holo seems to pop up, which gives this polish a lovely warm glow.
The application on this one is easy, especially since you're done in 1 coat! So it's great for stamping as well.
I did add a 2nd coat though, it always feels to thin with just 1 layer of polish on my nails :)

This pic is a bit too light as you can see, but it shows the other colors in the holo better.

Thanks for stopping by!

Watermelon Rind & Glisten up!

Heya,

Lately my thumbnails are annoyingly weak, both had a tear in the side and were wrapped up. One already broke off the other day without giving me a chance to rewrap, but that was just a corner luckily. But now a bigger corner of the other one broke off as well >.< The wrap lasted me just long enough to not make it painful, it just looks stupid now :P There's not even a tiny bit of white left on that part of my nail, lol.

So I decided to file it all a bit shorter than usual to make it less obvious, only I lost the shape of my nails a bit when doing so. Hopefully they grow a bit longer again soon, so I can fix it without ending up with mininails :)
What I do like with shorter nails is that some colors look better then, especially darker ones I find nicer on shorter nails. But since it's still sunny here I wanted a happy mani instead of a dark one.

I chose China Glaze Watermelon Rind to begin with and I used 3 coats of it.

Nice color, but I wanted something extra today so I added 1 coat of Essence Glisten up! which turned out to be an awesome combo with Watermelon Rind. I wish Essence would make this polish in lotsa different colors!

Enjoy your day :)

China Glaze DV8

Hoihoi,

Today it's pretty cold, and there's a chilly wind... But! There's quite a bit on sunlight as well. And what does a polishlover think of when the sun is shining? Right, holo of course! :)
So today I'm wearing the last polish of the OMG collection that I have but didn't show yet. DV8, which is a gorgeous teal holo.
The application was smooth as with all OMGs, just 2 coats was enough and the drying time was win as well. The only thing with this polish now was that all my pictures turned out good, lol. I always make quite a few pictures, and especially with the grey weather lately I'm trigger happy with making pics. So picking just a few now wasn't easy! :)

I hope you have some nice sunny weather as well, it always cheers me up :)
Take care!

Essence Everybody's Talking About & Go Wild

Heya,

Today I have 2 polishes to show, 1 recent mani and 1 that I'm wearing right now. They're both Essence polishes and come in those way too tiny bottles! :)

The first one is my current mani, Everybody's Talking About. It's a rich red/pink/coral kinda color, my pictures don't do it justice really. It's such a happy and in-your-face color, I love it! Will definately wear this one more often.

The second one is Go Wild, and it looks like a slightly lighter version of Orly Pure Petunia. It's a nice one to use as a base for stamping, but I didn't have inspiration at that time.

Almost weekend, enjoy it! :)

Polish Resurrection!

Hello,

Ever had that you're cleaning up and find something you didn't realize you still had? The other day I was going through some boxes with childhood stuff and found a small box, and I had no idea what was in it. Lifting up the lid just a tiny bit gave me the answer, yuk! Such a strong chemical smell, but it was clearly polish!

When I was a teenager I had a period where I polished a lot, and I remember I had some funky colors like neon green and white as well. Back then that wasn't exactly common here and the average drugstore just had standard colors. But we had this little dump store where everything was around 1 Guilder, and they had some cheap brands polish in more fun colors as well, and I loved it :)

Now I was sure I threw those polishes away years ago, and indeed I did with most, but apparently I kept some as well. Somehow this box sneaked through my previous cleaning rushes, I guess it was waiting for me to get back into polish and have thinner around :P
So here we have it, polishes that are probably around 13 years old! And gosh, now I feel old too, lol >.<
I picked 2 colors that I'd buy now too if I could and managed to open the bottles with the help of a kitchen scissors with a bottle opener or some in it, and oh, the horror... Stinky, lumpy and totally unusable. I'm sure the following pictures say enough.

This bottle looks full, but it's not. The polish was just so thick that it sticked to the walls of the bottle even when I tried to shake it.

This one didn't look too bad on the outside...

The first polish I picked is a purple-ish blue with a purple shimmer from Collection 2000, number 135. It reminds me a bit of Essie Huckle Buckle, but then a lot darker. My pics failed to capture the color correct, but hey, that's not what this post is about anyways! =)

The other one is a purple with pink shimmer from Lizzie French, and the bottle says Posh Paws 111. Wait wut, posh paws? With this? :')

Eek! Yeah, no way I'll be smearing that on my nails! But I have to say though, I guess the polishes could've been in much worse condition, being in a closed box without any light probably helped.

So I decided to do a little test with polish thinner, to see what it turns into then. I used Seche Restore, but more brands have thinner and I think it's all pretty much the same. I also added some metal balls from an old polish bottle. I have to buy those sometime cause I just had 2 left, and I think it would've helped to have more than 1 in each bottle.

This weekend I started with a lot of shaking, letting it rest in different positions and then some more shaking, and the result is way better than I expected! On the bottom of the bottles there's still some hard stuff that doesn't wanna work along, but above that I can clearly see the polish move in the bottle, and the brush looks more normal too :) (It's still stinky though >.<)

The application was surprisingly decent, and the drying time as well. I used 3 coats of each, no top coat.
The Lizzie polish could use a little bit more thinner just to make it nicer to apply, and the Collection 2000 polish could use more, well, polish :P I liked that color back then as well it seems, the bottle is half empty.

Collection 2000 on my index- and ringfinger, Lizzie French is on my middlefinger and pinkie. Comparing this to the picture where I tried to polish them on paper says enough I'd say :)

As you can see the Collection 2000 bottle looks way better here, just the bottom is still a bit nasty. The polish is a bit more purple irl.

So, there we have it, 2 polishes brought back to life. What can I say, I <3 thinner!

Take care :)

HEMA 83

Heyhey,

Today I'm wearing an older polish that I barely used before because it needed so many coats and dried so slow. But after being unused for a while the polish got a bit thicker and that helped luckily.
So here's HEMA Long Lasting number 83. I used 3 coats and a layer of top coat. I like the color, but it's a bit boring and I'm not too fond of the finish of the polish.

The VNL showing here isn't visible irl. If you're wondering what the white corner is on the pic, see next pic...

It's the corner of a basket for the cats :) I haven't found a better spot for making pics yet, so that corner sneaks into more pics :P I could hang the basket somewhere else of course, but knowing them, they won't find it interesting anymore then, lol.
The polish color on my nails is way too light here, but the color in the bottle is quite accurate. Couldn't make a better picture cause little miss in the basket started to look more and more grumpy :)

Here you can see the warm, golden-ish glow that sometimes pops up.

Thanks for stopping by, have a nice day :)

Catrice Absolutely Chinchilly!

Heya,

Absolutely Chinchilly! is one of the latest Catrice polishes, I'd say it's a bit of a mix between grey and brown. I thought I would love it, but hmm I'm still not sure. I think it maybe just doesn't work so well with my skintone, although on the pics it doesn't look that bad.
I planned on adding some black stamping or stickers or some to spice it up a little, but I doubted so much over the color that I didn't even add a top coat :P I'll probably try that some other time though.
I used 3 thin coats here.

Not the best pic (give decent light already! >.<) but it shows the darker side of it a bit better.

I'll think I'm gonna have a look at a different way to comment on my blog soon, so if it's acting wierd or looking strange you know why :P

Take care!

Sally Hansen Purple Potion

Heyhey,

One of our drugstores started selling some Sally Hansen polishes, I didn't know that so that was a nice surprise when I was there :) Untill I saw the price... €8,-! I find that pretty expensive for a polish and as far as I know, they're a lot cheaper in the US. So even though there were some more colors that got my attention, I just bought this one to try it out first.

The polish applied soso, very easy to flood my cuticles with it, and the drying time wasn't that impressive either. The color is awesome though :) Sometimes it looks a bit more purple (which as usual my camera disliked, lol), other times the blue stands out more. I used 3 coats, no top coat yet.

I would like some more Sally Hansen polish, but next time I'd try to swap some instead.

Have a nice weekend and take care :)

My first French

Heya,

First of all, a bit late but happy new year! I hope 2011 brings you all lotsa good things, and polish of course! :)
My life has been a bit rough lately, but I hope to be able to do more with my nails again and post more often from now on too. I haven't looked at new collections or other blogs for a while now either, but that'll come again in time I think. And I'd like to say thanks to Miranda and Crystaliciousss, who both tagged me even though I've been so inactive lately, I appreciate it! :)

For today's mani, I tried something new, a French manicure. I bought 3 of the Urban Baroque's polishes from Catrice, hoping they'd give full coverage but they didn't (see, I'm really not up-to-date anymore haha). The white of my nails isn't as neat as I'd like, so that's why I decided to try out a French.

Now me and those French mani stickers are a bad combo, my nails turn into a sticky mess with chunks of paper when I use those, so I tried to do it without. It's not perfect, but I'm happy with the result :)
I used China Glaze Snow for the white, 3 coats of Catrice Rock Barock, Konad white for stamping and plate m73. It's very rainy today, so I only have lightbox pics from this mani.

I think it turned out nice, but I'm so not used to the whole French thing, it feels so white even with the Catrice on top! But I guess I'll get used to it, lol.

Thanks for stopping by! :)
